PS5 Launch – Play Has No Limits
Update: Amazon and Argos could drop this week. Read on for more information.
The PS5 console was released more than six months ago, but if you’re a gamer you’ll know how hard it has been to get your hands on the latest device.
Restock issues have long been plaguing Sony since the reveal, and despite stores reopening in April in the UK as lockdown measures lift, it’s still virtually impossible to secure a console in-store.
It has become so difficult for people to get their hands on a PS5 that it’s spawned a whole Twitter community of stock trackers, as well as a 24,500-strong community of Redditors all trying to nab the console before it sells out again.
But, it’s not all bad news, as the restock landscape has started to improve in recent weeks. We enjoyed some of the best PS5 drops ever last month, as every major retailer released consoles, including a 20,000-strong drop from Game. June is shaping up to be similar, as we saw two big restocks at Very and Game last week, followed by drops at John Lewis, JD Williams, AO and Smyths Toys.
Owing to the high demand, we’re here to help you get your hands on the coveted Playstation by keeping an eye on all major retailers, as well as offering the latest details on any rumoured releases. Follow live so you don’t miss out.
You can trust our independent round-ups. We may earn commission from some of the retailers, but we never allow this to influence selections, which are formed from real-world testing and expert advice. This revenue helps to fund journalism across The Independent.

When will there be an Asda PS5 restock?
The last time Asda had a PS5 restock was at 8:30am on 25 May. The drop lasted just 20 minutes. Twitter stock trackers are predicting that the next drop could take place between 15 June and 17 June. We’ll keep our eyes peeled and let you know if the drop materialises.
For any future drops at Asda, our top tip is to add the PS5 to your wish list and then add it to your basket. The site hasn’t proven to be the most reliable in terms of stock drops, so you want to optimise the process and increase your chances of being able to checkout.

Shoppers left disappointed with fleeting Smyths PS5 drop
Smyths Toys appeared to have a mini restock of its PS5 bundles earlier this afternoon, but many shoppers were left empty handed as the retailer’s website showed the products as out of stock almost immediately after the supposed drop.
The PS5 restock tipster Twitter page, @PS5UKrestock, advised eager gamers to refresh the page if it showed as out of stock, as stock was reportedly being dropped slowly, but many people got to the point of having the PS5 bundle in their basket without being able to place the order. The stock that did appear for a few moments was a PS5 bundle with Rachet & Clank: Rift Apart.
The Smyths Toys website is now showing all PS5 consoles and bundles as out of stock, so it’s safe to say the mini drop, if it did materialise, has passed. Stay tuned for further updates.

Top tips for the Amazon PS5 restock
Amazon is also rumoured to have a drop this week, with stock potentially going on sale tomorrow. The digital edition (£359.99, Amazon.co.uk) frequently drops before the disc edition (£449.99, Amazon.co.uk).
Here are some of our top tips for securing a console at Amazon:
- Make sure to use Amazon Smile – a separate website which gives a portion of the cost of your purchase toward a chosen charity of your choice. Amazon Smile gets a lot less traffic than the regular Amazon website, so if there’s issues, Smile should work better.
- Add the console to your wish list and then add it to your basket. Apparently people have found more success this way.

For those of you who didn’t tune into the Summer Game Fest live stream last week, a number of developers had announced new PS5 and PS4 games, which will be releasing in the next few months.
One of these games was Hidetaka Miyazaki’s dark fantasy game Elden Ring. It will be released on 22 January 2020 on both the PS4 and PS5. At the moment, Amazon only has the PS4 version available for pre-order, but for any forward-thinking gamers hoping to get a PS5 very soon, the PS4 version of Elden Ring will have a free PS5 upgrade – so don’t fret if you pre-order the game now.

Ebuyer selling the Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart PS5 bundle by email
Ebuyer will reportedly sell the PS5 bundle with Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart to those who email the company’s [email protected] email address. The product listing still isn’t appearing for us on the retailer’s website, so we aren’t sure if it is still doing this promotion – if you can call it a promotion – but it’s worth giving it a go.
Winners will reportedly be chosen randomly, so there’s no harm sending over an email. The bundle costs £576.96, and comes with an additional dualsense controller as well as Rift Apart.

Tips for the Argos PS5 drop
Argos is rumoured to have a restock in the early hours of Tuesday morning between 1am and 2am. Frustratingly, these are the hours it drops new stock, so you’ll have to stay up if you want to get your hands on one. We’ve seen it drop as late as 3am and 4am in the past. If you’re planning to do the all-nighter, we have a few tips to help you secure a PS5 throughout the night.
Sadly, the usual tips about adding the console to your wish list on the Argos app and then adding it to your trolley won’t work this time round since it’s a new bundle that isn’t currently listed on the website.
Make sure all your payment details are saved with Argos so that you can check-out more quickly once the drop happens. All drops at Argos are done by region, so you might see that one location has gone live before yours. Don’t panic and keep refreshing until your postcode appears on the site.

PS5 goes in stock at Ebuyer and sells out within a minute
The PS5 came in stock at Ebuyer and it sold out immediately.. The retailer had a PS5 bundle with Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart with an additional dualsense controller on sale for £576.96 (Ebuyer.com). That’s a little pricey, but needs must.
The page now says that the bundle is discontinued, but we think that just means it’s sold out. Rumours suggest there were only 54 consoles available. Well done to those lucky enough to buy one.

Will there be a PS5 drop on Amazon Prime Day?
The PS5 is rumoured to drop at Amazon this week, sometime between 14 June and 17 June. The retailer usually drops the PS5 digital edition first, followed by the disc edition roughly half an hour later. But with Amazon Prime Day coming up next week, will the company have another well-timed drop? We think it’s unlikely, especially if the drop this week comes true.
Gamers consistently crash retailers’ websites whenever there’s a PS5 restock, forcing companies like Game and Very to enforce queues to restrict the load. It’s unlikely that Amazon would want to add to its Prime Day traffic by releasing a bunch of PS5 consoles as well. Read our explainer below for more of our thoughts.

Argos PS5 restock rumoured to drop tomorrow morning
Argos is rumoured to have a restock tomorrow in the early hours of the morning. According to the @PS5UKStock Twitter account, a Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart bundle will be released on Tuesday between 1am and 2am, so be prepared to stay up tonight! It’s rumoured to cost £509.99 (
The bundle hasn’t been put online just yet, so you won’t be able to add it to your wish list prior to the drop. And if you’ve already got the standalone PS5 console in your basket, you won’t be able to checkout when the bundle goes live, seeing as the Rift Apart combo will have a completely new product code.
The console will be available to buy on Argos’ PS5 page when the product goes live.

What PS5 restocks are coming up this week?
Good morning PS5 seekers! After an above average week for PS5 drops, is this week going to be any better? We hope so, if the often reliable PS5 Twitter stock trackers are to be believed.
As with every predicted date, the ones listed should be taken with caution. They are all rumours at best, since the predictions are made using previous restock patterns and, on occasion, insider knowledge. We’ll let you know if we get any more concrete dates or if a PS5 drops.
