Scotland vs Czech Republic LIVE: Scotland 0-2 Czech Republic, latest Euro 2021 updates after two Patrik Schick goals

Euro 2020: Daily briefing

Scotland play Czech Republic at Hampden Park this afternoon in the hosts’ first game at a major men’s tournament in 23 years.

The headline team news for Steve Clarke’s side saw Kieran Tierney of Arsenal miss out on the matchday squad. Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson captained the side from left wing-back. Manchester United’s Scott McTominay and John McGinn of Aston Villa started together in the centre of midfield.

The two nations are joined in Group D at Euro 2020 by England and Croatia, who went head-to-head at Wembley Stadium yesterday as the Three Lions emerged 1-0 winners thanks to a second-half Raheem Sterling goal. England will now be clear favourites to win the group, but the remaining teams will know that one victory may be enough to carry them into the last 16 as one of the four best third-placed finishers. Scotland and the Czech Republic would both snap a hand off for guaranteed qualification for the knockout stages, but must instead look to come out on top in this afternoon’s meeting.

A deep cross from Hendry finds its way through to Dykes, and the QPR striker side-foots his effort towards goal only to be denied by Vaclik.

The striker should have done better there.
